Dylan and I woke up the next morning to the sound of a text on my phone, apparently shifting in the night so we were now facing each other. We were cuddled so close that our foreheads and noses were touching. Our legs were intertwined, and our still naked bodies couldn’t hide our mutual morning wood.
“Good morning cutie,” he smiled at me, dazzling me with his eyes, his hand gently stroking my back.
My body tingled with emotion. I couldn’t help but question if last night was even real, or if I was still dreaming.
“Mmmm, hi,” I shyly replied, mirroring his smile.
I wanted to tell him I loved him again, but I was trying to convince myself that it was just the heat of the moment and pure hormones that made those words fall out of my mouth. Sure, he had said it back, but couldn’t it be the same for him? It was way too soon for us to be ‘in love,’ right?
My thoughts were interrupted by a kiss. I moaned softly against his lips. The sheet had slid down to our waists through the night, and I slowly started to stroke his exposed chest. He was warm and smooth. My thumb reached one of his nipples and he twitched a little, letting out a soft moan of his own.
He pulled away, and his eyes moved down my body. He stared and watched my chest move up and down as I breathed in perfect rhythm with him. Dylan slid the sheet down farther past our knees, exposing our boners.
“Ready for another round, I see?” He teased, staring at my dick with lust in his eyes.
“Speak for yourself!” I cried back, reaching down and cupping his smooth balls.
We laughed and made out, gently playing with each other’s hard ons. Our feet rubbed together as we lay there, and I could feel the soft hair on his legs tickling my own.
Then we heard a door slam upstairs.
“Dylan! You home dude?”
Fuck! I knew that voice. It was Dylan’s brother. He was a couple years older than me, and home from college for the summer. He had stayed at his girlfriend’s last night, but he was back now, and we could hear his footsteps approaching the basement stairs.
“Shit shit shit!” Dylan whispered, echoing the panic in my racing heart, “Johnny’s back!”
I tried desperately to scan the room for my clothes, but with no luck. I’d spent the night here plenty of times, but obviously not sleeping naked in the same bed as Dylan, let alone everything else that had happened. My brain spun out of control, knowing we were about to be busted.
“Fuck!” I looked at Dylan, not knowing what to do, “Should I hide?”
“Ummm, fuck,” he tried to find a solution while he pulled a random pair of underwear off the floor so at least one of us wouldn’t be naked, “Wait! Bathroom! Get in the shower, I’ll get him out of here so you can get dressed!”
Perfect. That seemed normal, right? I mean I’d showered here before, so yeah, this works? I wasn’t doing a good job of convincing myself that we were safe, but I bolted to the bathroom regardless, closing the door and jumping into the shower as fast as I could. I turned it on, not thinking and almost screamed because it was so fucking cold, and immediately pressed myself against the far wall, trying to avoid as much of the ice water as I could. At least the panic and cold shower made my boner go away if we did get caught.
I heard Johnny reach the basement and start chatting with Dylan. I couldn’t exactly make out what they were talking about, but it sounded pretty normal. I started to breathe a sigh of relief as the shower warmed up, calming my nerves more.
I figured I might as well wash my hair and make it look convincing if Johnny asked any questions. I stood in the shower, contemplating the whole situation. Everything was moving so fast, but despite my panic, my heart was fluttering. I was so fucking happy.
A minute later, there was a soft knock on the bathroom door before it creaked open. I poked my head out of the shower, relieved to see that it was just Dylan, successfully having pushed his brother back upstairs without giving us away.
“Hey, you ok?” He asked with genuine concern for my mental well-being in his voice.
“Yeah, I’m fine, thanks,” I smiled, “That was really fucking close,” I started to laugh.
“No shit! I had to try and hide my hard on while making some shit up about you crashing on the couch!” He laughed back.
“That’s a lot to hide,” I said, winking at him, making him blush slightly, “Hey grab me a towel?” I asked, shutting the shower off.
He stepped into the bathroom fully now, still only wearing underwear. He was flaccid at this point, but the way his big dick bounced in his boxer briefs as he walked was mesmerising.
Dylan grabbed a fresh towel and walked over to me, wrapping it around my waist before holding me close. He pressed his forehead to mine and gazed into my eyes. I wanted him again, right there in the bathroom, but both of us were too scared to be caught.
Out of nowhere, I remembered that I had a text. It was too early for anyone else, and had to be my mom or dad wondering where the hell I was. I knew they wouldn’t be overly worried, but if I was staying over at someone’s house, I always let them know. My mind was too preoccupied last night to think of texting them, though.
“Shit, I gotta let my parents know I stayed over here before they get pissed.”
Dylan let me step out of the shower and finish drying off.
“Fine,” he teased, sliding his underwear off, giving me a full view of his gorgeous naked body, “You do that, and I guess I’ll just shower alone.”
He stuck his tongue out, stepping into the shower, hiding his body with the curtain. I ran over and kissed him on the lips, pushing his head behind the curtain and running out of the bathroom before he could sway me into going any further.
I heard the water turn on again as I walked around the bedroom, trying to remember where my clothes were. I found my pants and socks, but everything else was missing in the laundry pile of a floor.
I spied my phone beside the bed and grabbed it to check my notifications. Sure enough, it was a text from my mom.
“Where are you? You didn’t come home or text last night and we have to talk.”
That seemed strange, my mom was usually pretty chill, and that text felt weirdly short and abrasive for some reason. I shot her a quick reply telling her I stayed at Dylan’s and forgot to text her, and that I’d be home soon.
I went back to looking for my clothes. No luck, but I saw Dylan’s dresser and thought ‘fuck it,’ and walked over to it. I opened the top drawer and pulled out a pair of his clean underwear. It felt taboo, but my emotions took over as I slid them on, feeling the soft fabric slipping up my legs and over my dick.
It was just a simple pair of blue boxer briefs, but I felt really turned on wearing a pair of Dylan’s underwear. I eyed myself in the mirror, checking out my slim physique, and how my semi-hard cock looked in them. I was lost in my own thoughts and didn’t even notice that Dylan had finished showering and came back out into the bedroom.
He grabbed my ass, making me jump.
“Those make your butt look awesome,” he said, standing next to me in only a towel.
“Fuck! Sorry!” I apologised, “I can’t find all of my clothes. I should have asked first, but can I borrow these?”
“Of course!” He laughed, “Besides, that means you have to come over again to bring them back,” he smirked at me.
He reached past me, grabbing a clean pair of underwear himself. He turned around on purpose, dropping the towel, but quickly pulling on his underwear, teasing me with a short glimpse of his perfect ass.
“Ughhh, you’re such a tease,” I sighed at him.
“I know,” he smirked, walking over and kissing me on the cheek.
“Fuck you, asshole,” I joked back at him, “But also...” I tried to sound cute, “Could I borrow a shirt,” I pouted at him.
I held my hands together in front of me and bit my bottom lip.
“You are too fucking cute,” he said, pulling a plain black tight fitting t-shirt out of the dresser.
He slipped the shirt over my head as I put my arms into the sleeves, and then he held me by the waist. We stared at each other for a moment, but I knew I had to get going.
“Fuck, I need to go. Mom thinks I’m dead or some shit,” I reluctantly pulled away from his grasp, “But...ummm....text me later if you want?” I probed.
“Of course,” Dylan smiled, pulling a shirt on as well.
We both finished getting dressed, and I started to leave.
“Hey wait,” Dylan called me back to him.
I turned around and he gently grabbed me again, pulling me into a goodbye kiss.
Our lips parted and he looked at me and whispered hesitantly.
“I love you.”
My throat tightened and I couldn’t form words. Were we really falling in love? We’d been friends for years, but only came out to each other a day ago, was this even possible? My brain was trying to be logical and reason with the situation, but my mouth jumped ahead of it.
“I love you too.”
I smiled and kissed him once more before turning and almost sprinting out of the basement, knowing that if I didn’t leave right then, I never would.
I walked into my house, my mind still spinning, happier than I’d been in a long time. Dylan’s clothes on me made it feel as though he was still close. I was ecstatic, and couldn’t wait to see him again.
I kicked off my shoes, as my mom walked out from the living room.
“Welcome home,” she greeted me with an out-of-character sternness in her voice.
“Hey,” I apologised, “Sorry I forgot to tell you I was staying at Dylan’s, we were just hanging out playing video games and I forgot,” I lied.
“What’s going on?” my mom asked.
“What do you mean?” I replied confused, my heart sinking with fear. She couldn’t know anything could she? What the fuck was going on??
“One of the neighbors called me this morning,” she started, “She said she saw you walking with Dylan last night...” she trailed off.
I was petrified. Fucking small town bullshit, where everyone knows everything 20 seconds after it happens. I couldn’t even respond, I just stared.
“She said she saw you two...” she hesitated, “...Holding hands...”
Fucking busted. It was so late, who the hell was up and saw us? My blood turned to ice. I’d had thoughts about coming out to my mom, but not like this.
“W-What?” was all I could stammer out.
My mom looked at me with a strict intensity I couldn’t recall ever seeing.
“Are you...” she struggled to say the word “...gay?”
The word hit me like a ton of bricks. When I’d thought about coming out to my mom and dad, I never thought I’d see so much disappointment in her eyes. Surprise and confusion, maybe, but this was worse than I could have imagined. I couldn’t respond, my tongue wouldn’t function, but I could feel my eyes welling up with tears of frustration.
“We can get you help,” she started again, staring me down, waiting for a response, “If you’re confused, we can talk through this phase...”
“It’s not a phase!” My mouth shouted.
The silence between us was deafening.
“...so it’s true then,” she started, “I thought we had raised you better than this. What are the neighbours going to think?” she asked, more to herself than to me.
“M-mom, I’m sorry,” I started to apologise, “I don’t know what happened, but I-I’m me. And Dylan...makes me...happy,” I confessed. If my legs weren’t jelly, I would have ran as fast as I could from the house.
“Stop. Just stop,” she commanded, “I want you to go to your room, and we’ll have a family meeting when your dad gets home. We’ll find a way to get through this,” she said with disappointment tainting her breath.
I couldn’t believe what was happening. I pulled my arms around myself, feeling Dylan’s shirt, as if he was right next to me, giving me strength.
“Mom, no,” I started with defiance in my voice, “I’m still me, but yes, I’m gay,” I spurted, surprising myself with confidence I didn’t know I had in that moment.
“Enough! We’ll talk more later, but for now...”
“No!” I shouted, “Fuck this! I’m happy with him! Fuck the neighbours, fuck this town, and fuck you if you can’t accept that!” I’d rarely sworn in front of my parents, but emotion was taking over and adrenaline was in control of my every action.
“You watch your mouth mister!” My mom shouted back. But it was too late. I quickly slid my shoes back on and turned to walk out the door. She was right on me though and tried to pull me back by my arm. I aggressively shrugged it off and bolted.
I ran for several blocks just to get as far away as I could before I ran out of breath and slowed to a walk. I looked back and she hadn’t followed. Immediately my phone rang, ‘Mom’ showing up on the screen.
‘Not a fucking chance,’ I thought, silencing the call.
All I wanted to do was run back to Dylan’s, but I knew that’s the first place she’d go to find me, or would already be trying to call his parents.
I opened my phone up, and called the only other person I could think to call, Chris.
“Hey man, what’s up?” He answered non-chalantly on the 3rd ring.
“Chris,” I started, “I need you to come pick me up,” the sound of tears swelling in my voice.
“Whoa, hey, is everything ok?” He asked, hearing my emotions get the best of me.
“No,” I choked out, starting to sob, “I just need you to come get me right now and I’ll tell you everything.”
“Hey hey hey! I’m grabbing my keys right now, where are you?”
I told him to meet me at a park a couple blocks from where I was, and thanked him.
He lived just outside of town, and told me he’d be there as soon as he could. I could hear him grabbing his keys and rushing out the door worriedly. He really was a good friend.
I hung up with Chris and started walking to the park, now openly sobbing out of my control. I had to call Dylan. My mom was inevitably going to call his parents.
Fucking small towns.
“Hey, miss me already?” He answered sexily, oblivious to what I’d just gone through.
“Dylan,” I cried into the phone, “My mom found out about us!”
He heard the tears in my voice.
“Wait, what? What happened? Where are you?” He asked with genuine concern in his voice.
“Chris is picking me up, she’s going to call your parents and out us, and I don’t know what’s happening,” I sobbed.
“Hey hey hey!” He tried to comfort me, “Hey, it’s ok babe, is Chris close?”
His voice and him calling me ‘babe’ was soothing.
“Yeah,” I started to calm down, “He’s on the way.”
“Ok, good. Go to his place if it’s safe,” he consoled me, “Do you want me to meet you there?”
“Yes!” I blurted before having a second to even think about it.
“Ok, ok. Let me talk to my brother quick. I’m sure he’ll give me a ride out there,” he said, as my breathing slowed closer to normal.
“Ok, cool. Thank you. I’m sorry,” I awkwardly tried to return to normalcy. All I wanted was his arms around me.
“It’s ok babe, I’ll see you soon,” he replied, “Text me when you’re with Chris. Everything will be ok...” he paused...”I love you.”
Tears instantly flooded my eyes.
“I love you too, Dylan,” I cried into the phone.
We hung up, and I made it to the park just a couple of minutes before Chris arrived. I waited and finally saw his 80’s Celica pull up in the parking lot and I practically sprinted to it.
My eyes were still red and wet as I climbed in the passenger seat.
“Hey man,” Chris tried to greet me softly, “What’s going on?”
“Just fucking go!” I commanded, needing to be as far from my home as I could be in that moment.
He threw the car in gear and drove off, both of us sitting in silence as I tried to figure out what to say.
My thoughts were so fucking scattered as I opened my phone again, texting Dylan that I was with Chris and to let me know when he was on the way. I hate that I needed him so much right then, but he was all I could think about.
Chris snapped me out of my trance.
“So...what’s going on, man?” He asked, trying to probe supportively.
“Chris, thank you for picking me up. I’m sorry. I just got home and my mom and I had a fight,” I started.
“About what?” He asked, “Wait...just got home? I thought you went home after the movie last night?”
“I didn’t,” I couldn’t stop my mouth at this point, “Chris, I stayed with Dylan last night.” I confessed.
“Ooooookkkayy?” He questioned, “Like we’ve done 100 times before? Why is your mom pissed about that?”
“No! Not like before,” I didn’t even know how to put this out there except to just blurt it out, “Chris....I’m gay...”
Thank god we were on a straight section of road because I swear he went comatose for a minute solid.
Slowly his mind clicked back into reality.
“Wait. What?” He asked confused, putting pieces together in his head, “Wait. Double what? Dylan? What? Are you two...” he trailed off.
“I think so,” I hesitantly answered, before telling him how my mom had found out.
He was silent for another minute, but I could see the wheels spinning in his head.
“Chris, say something,” I tentatively pushed, waiting for him to pull over and kick me out of the car.
“I don’t know man,” he slowly put his thoughts together, “I just had no idea. Like... whoa...”
I started to sob again, feeling weak and drained
“No, no, no, dude, it’s cool!” He tried to recover, “If you’re gay, I don’t care, just kind of a mind fuck is all. Dude, I love you, talk to me “
I started to laugh at the absurdity of the situation. If someone had told me two days ago that this was going to happen, I wouldn’t have believed a word they were saying, but the reality and gravity of my situation was sinking in.
“What the fuck am I doing?” I rhetorically asked Chris.
“Dude, I don’t know,” he comforted me, “But I got you. If anyone calls looking for you, I’ll say I don’t know shit.”
“Thanks,” I gratefully replied, “Ummm, also, I called Dylan. Is it ok if he comes over?”
“What? Oh, of course, do we need to pick him up?” Chris asked supportively.
“No, he said he’d get his brother to give him a ride. I just can’t go over there and have a chance of seeing my pissed off mom right now.”
“Ok, cool, well, mi casa es su casa,” he offered in a shitty Spanish accent, “My parents are gone for work already, so let’s chill and figure shit out.”
Thank god for Chris, he made everything feel normal and like this was no big deal.
“Thanks, dude,” I said sincerely, tears starting to well up in my eyes again.
“It’s ok man,” he said, putting his hand on my knee out of support as we pulled into his driveway.
I wiped my eyes as he parked, and I legitimately appreciated his support, but I couldn’t wait for Dylan to get there and feel his hand in mine once more.
